Dear Little Princess,
I love you more than you may know. You’re my light when everything is dark in my life. Quarantine hasn’t changed this because you still are my light during this dark time. I’m writing you this letter because I can’t get over how much you’re missing during this time.
This year didn’t go as planned. My heart aches for you and all the other kids in the world. Things shouldn’t be like this. You should be at school with your teacher and friends; not home with me and having digital/home school. I do have to say, for the most part, you’re being a wonderful student. Yes, you have moments when you fight me and just don’t want to listen but I can’t blame you. School is different. You miss your friends and teachers. I get it. Thank you for all the work you are doing with me. I can see why your teacher says … You’re a great student and love to learn. You really do. It’s amazing. I hope you always keep your love for learning.
Quarantine also taught me how much art means to you. I noticed the days you don’t do art how grumpy you are and tend less willing to do other school work. You have become such an artist too. I love how I put on a picture for a garage trunk on my laptop and you drew it way better than I thought you would.
I’m just blown away how you looked at the picture then drew it. I have a feeling that your talent at 5 years old will progress if you continue your hard work.
Keep up the hard work. Listen to me as much as you can during school time. We can and will get through together. I will try to make school activities fun just like your teacher. Please be patient with me. I’m not a teacher, so I will make mistakes and sound confusing at times. If you just ask questions, I can explain more. I know you’re staying to ask more questions, but I just want to remind you.
I long for the day the two of us can go shopping again. I’m missing my shopping buddy and sorry for getting upset or annoyed with you while shopping before all the craziness. I took for granted my shopping with you. Now, I would give anything to take you with me. Shopping was our special time together and coronavirus took that from us. I promised as soon as this is over we can plan a special day just the two of us.
Easter was yesterday. I’m tried to keep it as normal as I can. I know it’s not. We have to stay home instead see family. This year is rough, but your face when we decorated eggs for the Easter bunny made me forget what’s going on for a few moments. Your kittycorn (kitty unicorn) and unicorn eggs came out so cute.
I love how creative you are and unique your ideas are when you’re thinking about a solution. For example, I love how you thought about giving the Easter bunny our egg last year. It’s our tradition now. I even loved the pictures you made for the Easter bunny. You’re turning into such an artist. I’m loving every minute of it because I love the say you’re eyes light up when your working on something. Your art helps me survive this dark time.
I made sure the Easter bunny came because I didn’t know if you could take any more disappointment this year. You need and deserve something to look forward to right now. It’s not much excitement going on with the virus going around. I’m trying her to make the best of our time in quarantine.
Spring Break is ruined too, which makes me so upset because we were going to take a mommy and daughter trip to visit my brother and fiancé. We can’t do this now. I promise once this is over we will go can go visit them. I know how much you were looking forward to going on vacation. Daddy and I never took you on vacation before so this was a big deal for you! I hate how COVID-19 ruined our vacation too.
The most important thing we can do now stays home and enjoy the time we have with each other. I know you and I are getting under each other skin sometimes but that’s normal for the most part. This is difficult for daddy, you, and me. The key is just to be there for each other and make each other happy even if we’re in quarantine. I know it’s not easy, but the three of us can get through it together.
I will try my best to continue to make your spring break fun. I know we can’t go out but we can do so much more together inside as well. I think. Mommy will figure it out. I always do. Life can through lemons at me, but I always overcome the challenges. I will teach you how to do the same. Don’t worry. Mommy will take care of everything. You’re only 5 years old and should be enjoying life, so leave the worrying to Daddy and me.
Hang in there, my little princess. Hopefully this is all over soon, so things can go back to normal. I love you.
